Android 7.0 – also known as “Nougat" – was released on 2016-08-22.

New features in Nougat include, but are not limited to, the following: [1]
  • Ability to run apps side-by-side in multiple windows
  • Usability and performance enhancements for notifications
  • Just-in-time compilation, including code profiling
  • Faster app installations
  • Improvements to Doze, the system mode in Android responsible for saving battery life
  • A user-enabled mode for reducing or blocking cellular data transmission
  • Vulcan 3D rendering API for developers
  • Number blocking
  • Support for multiple locales
  • Expanded list of languages supported
  • Unicode globalization support
